Why Gather?

Cedar Gather is a place where dinner doesn't have to end. We're a sharing restaurant, cocktail bar, and social poker loft in Montréal, built around one simple idea: good food, good company, and one more hand.

We combine seasonal Québec dining with open-fire cooking and shareable plates. Our bar pours Canadian wines and cocktails that invite lingering. After dinner, guests can move to the poker loft for friendly Texas Hold'em nights. No online play, no wagering—just in-person games at physical tables.

A Place to Stay

Cedar Gather was imagined as a place where guests don't need to leave after dinner. Too often, a great meal ends with the question, "Where to next?" We wanted to remove that question.

The restaurant flows naturally into the cocktail bar and poker loft. Guests can transition from sharing plates to sharing a table for cards. The space is designed for lingering, with warm cedar, soft lighting, and circular tables. Our tagline captures the spirit: "Good food. Good company. One more hand."

Food: Seasonal & Shared

Our kitchen is built around the seasons of Québec. We cook over open fire, letting smoke and cedar add depth to vegetables, fish, and meats. Plates are meant to be shared, passed around the table like stories.

The menu changes with the seasons, highlighting local producers. Open-fire cooking brings a rustic, elemental flavour. Shareable plates encourage conversation and connection. Canadian wines and cocktails complement the food.

Table: The Heart of the Room

Everything at Cedar Gather happens around a table. Our dining tables are round, encouraging eye contact and easy sharing. The poker tables are built for comfort and focus, with felt surfaces and soft lighting.

Dining tables are circular to foster conversation. Poker tables are professional-grade but welcoming for beginners. The same cedar wood is used throughout, creating visual continuity. Tables are spaced to allow privacy without isolation.

Time: No Rush

We believe time is the most generous gift you can give someone. That's why we don't rush tables. Dinner can stretch into drinks, and drinks can stretch into a poker game. The evening unfolds at your pace.

No strict seating times; guests are encouraged to linger. The bar stays open late, with last call at midnight or 2 AM depending on the day. Poker nights start after dinner service, so you can move seamlessly. The phrase "one more hand" is an invitation to stay a little longer.

Cedar & Circle

The space is designed around two materials: cedar wood and circular geometry. Cedar brings warmth and a subtle fragrance. Circles echo the communal table and poker chips, creating a sense of continuity from dining room to loft.

Walls feature cedar panelling, softened by oat-coloured plaster. Lighting is warm and low, with pendant lamps over tables. The poker loft has a slightly darker palette with aluminium accents. Circular motifs appear in table shapes, light fixtures, and artwork.

Two Experiences, One Home

Cedar Gather is first and foremost a restaurant. But we also host social poker nights in our loft. The two experiences share the same values: hospitality, quality, and the joy of gathering.

Dining

Dinner service is the primary focus, with 75% of our identity. Seasonal Québec ingredients, open-fire cooking, and shareable plates set the tone. Canadian wines and cocktails are poured with care, and the room is designed for lingering.

Poker

Poker nights are secondary, offered on select evenings. No online play or wagering—just friendly Texas Hold'em at physical tables. Guests can book dinner and request a poker seat in the same visit.

Pull Up a Chair

Whether you're here for the food, the cocktails, or the cards, there's a seat for you. Book a dinner table or request a spot at our next poker night. We'll keep the fire warm.

Book dinner via our contact page or phone. Poker night requests can be made through the poker nights page. Walk-ins are welcome when space allows. 18+ only.
